Josh Armijo  "A Retropective"

Josh Armijo, a self-proclaimed man of pashion (passionate and stylish) has been visited by the elusive muse since the age of five. born on the Flathead Reservation in Montana, he grew up surrounded by extended family members including well-meaning uncles who taught him to draw his reality as well as question it. This questioning spirit combined with an Irish/Indian heritage has resulted in a fiery individual who has command of his creative gifts and can conduct his art like an orchestra.

Maria Lopez  "Supersize Santos"

 
Maria Lopez is a professional visual artist and a Pueblo, Colorado native. Her range is wide and paints representationally abstract paintings,still-lifes, landscapes on-location, and figure drawing. She earned a Master’s degree in painting from Boston University. She previously worked for The Museum of Modern Art in New York City in the Office of the Chief-Curator-at-Large.

For several years, her works have been gifted to celebrities such as: Christo andJeanne-Claude, Matt Lauer, Carlos Mencia, Dane Cook and others. Her artwork,and photos of her with celebs, can be seen on her website: www.lopezme.com   She has shown her work nationally and internationally. Some of her work is currently in The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center’s Permanent Collection. She was a Featured Artist in the 2009 Colorado State Fair at the Cultural Heritage Center Exhibit. Her 8-foot tall Santos will be on display at CHAC all this month.

Jolt:  "Just Painted"

Employing wordplay, Jolt has developed a character called the guerilla gorilla. The playful character embodies Urban Nature—he is both wild and civilized. GuerillaGarden, which is the name of Jolt’s company, references a movement that originated in New York City in the early 1970s. Guerilla gardening is an improvised attempt to beautify a deteriorating landscape.  www.guerillagarden.com

Kids Art Saturday

The tradition of Rosca de Reyes began in southern Europe centuries ago and came to Mexico with the Spaniards. Today, it is a Mexican celebration with family and friends to celebrate the Epiphany. Come and taste Rosca de Reyes, the traditional food made for this feast day.

Learn more about the tradition and make your own Rosca ornament during this festive workshop.

Stevon Lucero

Stevon Lucero has been painting for over forty years. Since childhood, he has experienced lucid dreams and visions and ventured more then once into separate realities. Robert Maestas

Robert Maestas grew up in North Central New Mexico but now resides in Lakewood, CO, a suburb of Denver. He is a veteran of the US Armed Forces and served aboard the aircraft carrier USS America in the early seventies. Mr. Maestas is a self taught digital artist and has been creating art for over fourteen years.

CHAC Heart Show Needs Your Help

CHAC Heart Show Needs Your Help

Our annual Milagros del Corazon is almost upon us.  Artists can pick up their wooden hearts for decorating starting the beginning of January. 

As you know, this annual event is one of the most important fundraisers of the year and it brings in folks from all over town.  Volunteers are needed to be on the Heart Show Committee. This includes set up and take down, preparations, PR, sponsorships, decorating, cutting hearts, food & beverage, donations and several other items. Call Crystal at CHAC as soon as you can to sign up! We need several eager and talented people. 

The heart show will be held on the second Friday of February. Stay tuned for notice of the location and other details are to be announced soon!
